We're all steadily getting heftier ... not you personally , I hasten to add , but in general . And even the BBC blames McDonalds and Eat Your Own Weight In Pizzas establishments for the trend . But a cookery book I was given today on retirement ( one of several .... either Husband has complained or I look as greedy as , in fact , I am ) had some sterling advice at the end of a recipe for Croque Monsieur .
" For a more sober version make only one Croque Monsieur per person and serve with a small salad " .
Where does one go to acquire the willpower to eat only one of these?
ReplyDeleteTsk tsk, isn't adding a small salad rather greedy?
ReplyDeleteWell, two does seem like too much. The truth is, we should probably only eat half of one, but I would want more.
ReplyDeleteI'd eat perfectly healthily and well if I had someone to whom I could give instructions as to what should be put in front of me. As Controller Of The Food I am a very bad Portioner.
ReplyDeleteJune, you took the words right off the end of my fingers! If I had someone arranging my plate I'd be in good shape!
ReplyDeleteNobody can eat just one... can they? Served with a poached egg on top and a little bechamel sauce and it becomes a Croque Madame!
ReplyDeleteAnd portions? My eyes are ALWAYS bigger than my stomach!
LOL! I'm reading this while eating a cookie and drinking Pepsi. I need to become healthier ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Stephen. I'd need to go on some kind of training course to teach me how to eat only one. And, salad? What's SALad?
