Bring back the days of the toasting fork, by investing in this 2012 version of the electric toaster! From light gold to charred brown, the colour of your slice of bread will rely on your dexterity, skill and, let us not forget,
olfactory input, which will probably alert you to when it may be advisable to call the fire brigade, instead of reaching for the butter...
Back story! Now!
ReplyDeleteMany Olympic torches have been sold by now - sometimes raising vast sums for charity in the process. See one story HERE. However I thought there might be more practical uses for some of those second hand flames! LOL :)
ReplyDeleteWhy stop at toast , why not try sausages ?
ReplyDeleteWhat a tasty alternative! Followed by toasted marshmallows, possible?
DeleteOr even possibly...
ReplyDeleteYesterday was National S'mores Day!

Olympic-torch-toasted s'mores for everyone!
I think that's one treat which somehow doesn't translate into English... The mysterious Graham crackers are beyond my comprehension, and seem to figure largely in the recipe's at your link, June. Although the last picture vaguely resembles a commercially available UK teatime treat. However I did find this interesting version. I happen to already have some of the chocolate biscuits it recommends, but sadly, no marshmallows! But I can imagine the combination...
ReplyDeleteIt might well NOT translate at all into English, Jinksy. The confection is all about textures: the grainy cracker (your McVitie's is probably the right graininess, judging by the photos), the melty smoothness of the chocolate, the sticky sweetness of the melty marshmallows.
ReplyDeleteI ended up wandering around the McVitie's website. What fun. You still have Woolworths stores there?
I found a website written by some nutty, biscuit connoisseur, which had a photo plus a short description of Graham Crackers, which he agreed, were not dis-similar to McVities Digestives.
ReplyDeleteBut Woolworths, I'm sorry to say, are now online only - apart from one store which was bought by it's employees, in order to keep the name on their high street!
